COLLECTION 001  EXPLORES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MATERIAL STREAMS AND DOMESTICITY.

we lived together, worked together, and raised two cats together at that time, everything so chaotic yet still coming together in the end. we were experimenting with three d printing to build up the shade and using cnc’d mdf to stack up a base. over which we wrapped rice paper to the shade and craft paper to the base. we painted the base green. over which we pasted illustrated figures from various drawings related to the home. we put in a tube light from hay designs and it worked,
all of these materials were sourced from direct to consumer websites and stores

during this time, we picked the table and three chairs up from the fabricators in newburgh ny. the channels, sheet metal, and hardware for the chair coming from websites such as onlinemetals and mcmaster carr. the ash hardwood coming from a “local supplier”,
this time in our lives was hard, and there were expectations that this money we were spending on these pieces of furniture would go somewhere. either the furniture as art, “design pieces”, or home products to be sold.
